Angus Properties is in the midst of giving the YMCA building in Braamfontein a renovation. It's the building pictured on the right in the first photo above, and the building on the left in the second photo.
Whilst there may be far worse buildings needing upgrades, it's great to see yet another refurbishment commence. At this rate Johannesburg's skyline will be graced with new modern high-rise apartments and office blocks in no time.

Only just found this posting and was thrilled to be able to show the article to my aged father John Mostert. Dad was a lodger at the 'Y' man in his early 20's and that was way back in 1952. He played for the YMCA Rugby team then and names he recalls are Ray Bushell, Neville Wood, Freddy Wyeth, Leon Burgh, Clarry Rogers, Frank Wilkinson, Ray Berry and ? Hill.
